But since I liked Liveship Traders so much, I continued on and it definitely turned out to be a great trilogy in its own right! I especially liked the third book, I guess since it's more of an "adventure" story compared to the first two. It's definitely clear from the beginning that Hobb is great as writing characters, but I'm not gonna lie, I might have decided the series just wasn't for me and dropped it after Assassin's Apprentice. Also there wasn't much to pull me into the world at first, with the story instead being laser-focused on the character of Fitz. slow, to the point of much of the first book seeming almost like a prologue. I'm not sure if I've ever read a first-person fantasy novel and the pacing at first seemed. Picked up the Farseer Trilogy next and I was a bit taken aback at first at how different it is.

Kennit in particular, while obviously not likable, is one of the most well-written, complex characters I've seen. I was blown away by the amazingly well written characters, the captivating story and the intriguing worldbuilding. It turned out to be some of the best fantasy books I've read in years. Didn't even know that it was supposed to be the second trilogy of a larger series. A few months ago I picked up Liveship Traders from my library.
